Eight thousand years
Georgia counts as one of the cradles of the cultivated vine. Clay vessels found in the Neolithic settlements of Kvemo Kartli kept the traces of wine — from the sixth millennium BC.
Between 6000 and 4000 BC this land was the first centre of vine selection: cultivated varieties were gradually drawn out of the wild vine.
